GLOSSARY TERM

Node-Locked License

A node-locked license is tied to a specific machine using a digital fingerprint composed of identifiers such as the MAC address, CPU ID, or hardware serial numbers. The license is only valid on that device, ensuring secure and controlled usage without needing continuous external communication.

This model is ideal in environments where software must remain local and secure, such as in offline or air-gapped systems. It offers simplicity in deployment, though it lacks flexibility when software needs to be moved between devices. Migration tools are often provided to allow reinstallation on new hardware under controlled conditions.

iLok Licensing includes node-locking capabilities through machine-based licenses that bind licenses to individual machines. PACE provides end user tools to make reinstallation on new hardware easy.
