May 2025

It’s been an exciting start to 2025 at PACE; and what a fantastic spring!

It's always a busy time with industry events. In the last few weeks, we’ve been to the NAB Show, a Mathworks automotive event and RSA Conference. It won’t surprise you to learn, the common thread linking the shows was AI. It was refreshing to see AI transform from being a buzzword to being a technology powering solutions and solving use cases. This was particularly evident at NAB and is a sign of a maturing technology.

Looking ahead, we are building up to the Fusion 6 beta release, and we continue to make updates and improvements across our products. Our white-box team continues to do the impossible and make white-boxes smaller and faster without compromising security. Meanwhile, automated machine activation resets are proving highly popular with our iLok Licensing publishers and end users alike.

What's new?

Shopify Rent-to-Own plans

Last year, we released the iLok License Delivery app for Shopify, which enabled publishers to sell iLok-licensed software through a Shopify store and have licenses directly deposited into users’ accounts without the need for activation codes. The first release focused on perpetual licenses. In November, we updated the app to also support subscription licenses. We will soon launch the next update which will make Rent-to-Own plans available through the Shopify app.

Smaller and faster white-boxes

Our customers use White-Box Works to create secure execution areas within their software; ideal for protecting cryptographic keys and keeping critical algorithms secret. Our team has optimized the white-boxes generated by White-Box Works. The new 1.2 release allows White-Box Works customers to create white-boxes that are significantly smaller and faster, while maintaining the same level of security.

Automated machine activation resets for iLok Licensing

If a user has activated a license to a machine but no longer has access to that machine, they can recover control of that license using a process called “Machine Activation Reset.” When an end user requests a machine activation reset, by default we ask our iLok Licensing customers to manually approve each request. This process can now be performed automatically. This reduces their support load and improves the response time for end users–getting them up and running again almost instantly. The automation includes rules and safeguards so end users cannot abuse their license entitlement.

Audio Developer Conference

Tickets are now available for this year’s Audio Developer Conference, taking place November 10–12 in Bristol, UK and online. This annual event celebrates all audio development technologies, from music applications and game audio to audio processing and embedded systems. A few select sponsorship opportunities are still open—get in touch if you'd like to get involved.

Launched in connection with the Audio Developer Conference, the ADC Mentorship Program is designed to support and guide emerging audio software developers. The program connects newcomers with experienced professionals to foster an inclusive, supportive, and diverse community. Participants commit to three one-hour calls between July 1 and December 31, 2025, with applications open until June 1.
