The iLok Licensing Platform provides software licensing checks for applications such as those produced by the MATLAB compiler. When a protected application launches, it checks to see if a valid license is present. If it is successfully authorized, additional license checks will be performed periodically based on the location being used for authorization. If a license check does not find a license, the developer can choose how the product is disabled.

When a protected binary is launched and a valid license is not detected, the Activation Experience will communicate with our activation services to authorize a product immediately if a license is awaiting activation in the user's iLok account. This added convenience saves the end-user time as they don’t need to exit the launch sequence and open the iLok License Manager to activate a license. Activation occurs seamlessly in-line. As a developer, you decide if you will allow an instant demo during launch.
